Moving with purpose: new study tests diet and exercise for MPN patients

NCT ID NCT05842603

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This pilot study tests whether a 12-week nutrition and exercise program is feasible for patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), a group of blood cancers. Thirty participants will take virtual and in-person classes to learn healthier eating and physical activity habits. The main goal is to see if at least 70% can complete 9 weeks of the program, with symptom changes also tracked.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Cardiac Lifestyle Program (12-week tailored nutrition and physical activity program)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a structured lifestyle program is feasible for MPN patients and may help ease symptoms like fatigue.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study (30 participants) with no control group, so results may not apply broadly. The program may be too demanding for some patients.
