First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looked at how two pain medicines, lidocaine (given through a vein) and ropivacaine (given through a small tube in the back), affect each other's levels in the blood during major abdominal surgery. The goal was to see if using them together is safe and could reduce side effects like nausea or bowel problems. 51 adults having open abdominal surgery took part, and researchers measured drug levels at several time points.
