NCT ID NCT05368753

First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at how two pain medicines—lidocaine given through a vein and ropivacaine given through an epidural—affect each other's levels in the blood during major abdominal surgery. 51 adults having open abdominal surgery took part. The goal was to see if using both together is safe and could reduce side effects like nausea and bowel problems. The results help doctors understand how to combine these medicines for better pain control.
