Can a simple blood test predict chemo success in rare cancer?
NCT ID NCT05653388
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is collecting blood and tumor samples from 200 people with metastatic leiomyosarcoma who are starting chemotherapy. Researchers will analyze circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and genetic changes to see if they can predict how well the chemotherapy works. Participants also fill out a questionnaire about genetics. The goal is to find early biomarkers that could guide treatment decisions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could identify early markers in the blood that show whether chemotherapy is working, helping doctors tailor treatment sooner.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not find reliable biomarkers, and results may not change current care for years.
