New combo tackles Drug-Resistant lung cancer in early trial

NCT ID NCT06106802

First seen Mar 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This phase 2 trial tests whether combining two targeted drugs—lazertinib and tepotinib—can shrink tumors in people with advanced EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer whose disease has worsened after initial lazertinib treatment due to MET gene changes. About 47 participants will receive daily oral doses of both drugs. The main goal is to see how many patients respond, with secondary aims including how long the benefit lasts and overall survival.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Lazertinib and tepotinib (two oral drugs)

What this could lead to

If successful, this combination could offer a new treatment option for people with a specific type of lung cancer that has stopped responding to initial therapy.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial (47 people) with no control group. The benefit may be limited to those with high MET levels, and side effects from the drug combination are possible.
