Laser zaps painful lumps in early HS trial

NCT ID NCT07155239

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This pilot study tests a 1726-nm laser (AviClear) to reduce painful lumps and abscesses in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a chronic skin condition. Thirty adults with mild-to-moderate HS will have one side of their body treated with the laser and the other side with a sham procedure. The goal is to see if the laser safely lowers inflammation and improves symptoms over 24 weeks.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
1726-nm diode laser (AviClear)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a non-invasive laser treatment to ease painful skin lumps in early-stage hidradenitis suppurativa.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 pilot trial with only 30 people. The laser may not reduce symptoms better than no treatment, and results may not apply to all skin types or disease stages.
