First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether alexandrite laser works as well as Nd:YAG laser for treating hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a painful skin condition. Twenty-one people will receive both lasers on different sides of their body to compare results. The goal is to see if alexandrite can reduce symptoms and improve quality of life.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

laser treatment (Nd:YAG or alexandrite)

What this could lead to

If alexandrite laser works as well as Nd:YAG, it could give patients another effective option for easing HS symptoms.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 21 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Lasers can cause pain or skin reactions.
