New LabPatch could replace finger pricks for diabetes patients
NCT ID NCT05754281
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new device called LabPatch that measures blood sugar from fluid just under the skin. About 60 adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who use insulin will wear the patch for 6 hours. Researchers will compare its readings to standard lab tests and two commercial glucose meters to see how accurate it is.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
LabPatch glucose sensing system (a device that measures glucose from interstitial fluid)
What this could lead to
If accurate, this device could offer a less invasive way for people with diabetes to monitor their blood sugar levels.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study focused on accuracy, not on improving health outcomes. The device may not prove reliable enough for everyday use.
