No-Needle sepsis monitor could change infection care

NCT ID NCT04796285

First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests a new finger-clasp device, similar to a pulse oximeter, that measures lactate levels from skin fluid instead of blood. Lactate is a key marker for sepsis, a life-threatening infection. The goal is to see if the device works as well as standard blood tests in 6 healthy adults, making monitoring easier and less painful.
