First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Aug 12, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests a weight loss program for 522 low-income adults with obesity in Louisiana. Participants receive health coaching, digital self-monitoring tools, and group support to find community wellness resources. The goal is to see if this approach leads to greater weight loss and health improvements compared to standard care alone.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

- health coaching and community resources
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this program could provide an effective, scalable way to help underserved communities achieve and sustain weight loss, improving overall health.
- What could go wrong
- This is a behavioral intervention trial, not a drug or device. Results depend on participant engagement and may not generalize beyond Louisiana. Weight loss may be modest or not sustained long-term.
