New injection combo takes aim at tough skin cancers
NCT ID NCT07228442
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jul 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests a combination of two immune-boosting drugs, L19IL2 and L19TNF, injected directly into skin tumors. It is for people with advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma whose cancer has worsened despite or who cannot tolerate standard immunotherapy. Up to 92 participants will receive weekly injections for up to 4 weeks, with a possible second course if the tumor shrinks or stabilizes. The goal is to see if this approach can shrink tumors and control the disease.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- L19IL2 and L19TNF (a combination of two immune-boosting proteins injected directly into tumors)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for people with advanced skin cancer who have run out of standard therapies.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early phase 2 trial with only 92 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment is injected directly into tumors, which may not be possible for all patients, and side effects are still being studied.
