New injections aim to shrink Hard-to-Treat skin tumors
NCT ID NCT07227350
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 31, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests three experimental drugs—L19IL2, L19TNF, or a combination—injected directly into skin tumors for people with advanced basal cell carcinoma who cannot have surgery or radiation. About 180 participants will receive weekly injections for four weeks and be followed for up to three years. The goal is to see if these drugs can shrink or control the tumors.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- L19IL2 and L19TNF (immune-targeting drugs injected directly into tumors)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with advanced basal cell skin cancer who cannot have surgery or radiation.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early phase 2 trial with only 180 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drugs are injected directly into tumors, which may cause local side effects like pain or swelling, and the treatment may not shrink tumors in all patients.
