Amino acid l-lysine tested for hormone effects in healthy volunteers
NCT ID NCT01220388
First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether L-lysine, a common amino acid, changes levels of the stress hormones aldosterone and cortisol in healthy men. Twenty male volunteers took L-lysine or a placebo for 13 days, then switched. The goal was to understand how the body controls these hormones, not to treat any disease. No direct health benefit was expected for participants.
