Brain chemical boost tested for Depression's 'Joyless' symptom
NCT ID NCT06075771
Summary
This study is testing if a medication called L-DOPA can help people with depression who also have high inflammation and a specific symptom called anhedonia, which is the inability to feel pleasure. Seventy adults with depression will take either L-DOPA or a placebo for eight weeks to see if it improves their mood and motivation. Researchers will use brain scans and tasks to measure changes in how the brain's reward system works.
