Scientists test new Pain-Blocking cocktail for knee surgery recovery
NCT ID NCT06470100
Summary
This study tested two different drugs, dexamethasone and dexmedetomidine, when added to a standard nerve block to see which one better manages pain after knee replacement surgery. Researchers enrolled 90 adults undergoing surgery to compare how long the pain relief lasted and how much strong opioid pain medication patients needed afterward. The goal was to find the best method to control post-surgical pain and help patients recover faster with less discomfort.
