Could a simple supplement boost knee injection results for arthritis sufferers?
NCT ID NCT07680101
First seen Jul 02, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding an oral supplement (PEA) to a series of knee injections (adelmidrol and hyaluronic acid) can better reduce pain and improve function in people with knee arthritis. The injections aim to protect the joint from damage, while the supplement may help calm nerve-related inflammation. The trial involves 80 adults with knee osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis who will receive either the injections alone or the injections plus the oral supplement.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Adelmidrol 2% / Hyaluronic Acid 1% (injection) and micronized/ultramicronized Palmitoylethanolamide (oral supplement)
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could offer a new way to ease knee pain and improve mobility for people with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 80 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The supplement may not provide added benefit over the injection alone.
