Own blood used in new shot for aching knees

NCT ID NCT06329492

Summary

This small Mayo Clinic study tested whether an injection made from a patient's own processed blood plasma could safely reduce pain and improve function in people with moderate knee osteoarthritis. Twenty participants with ongoing knee pain received the injection and were followed for one year to check for side effects and measure changes in their pain levels and ability to do daily activities. The goal was to gather initial safety and effectiveness data to plan a larger future trial.
