Knee injury surgery recovery under the microscope: new study aims to improve outcomes
NCT ID NCT07174219
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study follows 43 people who had surgery for a specific type of knee ligament injury called a Stener-like MCL tear. The goal is to measure how well the knee heals and how soon patients can return to sports. Researchers will use standard tests like the Lysholm Knee Score and KT-1000 to track recovery. Because these injuries are rare and not well-studied, this research aims to fill gaps in knowledge and improve future treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
surgical re-insertion of the medial collateral ligament
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could provide clearer guidelines for treating complex knee ligament injuries and help patients return to sports more safely.
What could go wrong
This is a small observational study with only 43 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It does not test a new treatment, only evaluates existing surgical outcomes.
