NCT ID NCT03140748

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a substance called β-D-glucan in the blood can help doctors detect and monitor fungal infections in the abdomen of critically ill patients. Researchers measured levels daily in 70 adults with peritonitis (inflammation in the belly) who were in intensive care. The goal was to see if this marker behaves differently when a yeast infection is present, which could lead to faster diagnosis and better treatment.
