New rapid test speeds up infection detection in abdominal surgery patients
NCT ID NCT07562204
First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026
Summary
This study tested a fast DNA-based method (multiplex PCR) to identify bacteria and fungi causing serious abdominal infections. Researchers compared how quickly this method gave results versus standard lab cultures using fluid samples from 50 patients who had surgery. The goal was to see if the rapid test could provide faster and more detailed information about the germs causing the infection.
