New imaging could help surgeons 'Feel' kidney tumors before cutting

NCT ID NCT06525831

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether special MRI and CT scans can accurately measure the stiffness of kidney tumors. Researchers will compare these scans to standard methods in 50 adults scheduled for kidney tumor surgery. The goal is to improve 3D-printed models that help surgeons plan operations.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could give surgeons a better way to see tumor stiffness before surgery, leading to more accurate 3D models and potentially better surgical planning.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early feasibility study (50 people) focused on imaging, not treatment. It may not lead to any direct patient benefit or change in clinical practice.
