New drug could free kidney patients from lifelong Anti-Rejection pills

NCT ID NCT05806749

Summary

This early-stage study is testing if adding the drug belumosudil to a special kidney and stem cell transplant procedure can help patients safely stop taking lifelong anti-rejection medications. The goal is to see if the body can learn to accept the new kidney without needing constant drugs to suppress the immune system. Researchers will enroll 16 carefully selected adult patients to check the safety of this approach and see if it leads to successful medication withdrawal.
