New tool aims to predict which kidney patients need specialist care
NCT ID NCT03192189
Summary
This study aimed to create a decision-making tool to help doctors identify which patients hospitalized with severe kidney injury are most likely to develop chronic kidney disease. Researchers followed 319 patients who needed dialysis for acute kidney injury to understand what factors predict long-term kidney problems. The goal was to develop a scoring system that could guide timely referrals to kidney specialists for those who would benefit most.
