Could a simple monitor predict kidney failure in kids?

NCT ID NCT03608956

Summary

This study aimed to see if two new monitoring tools could quickly predict kidney injury in children undergoing heart surgery. It planned to test special ultrasound and a light-based sensor during surgery to measure kidney blood flow and oxygen levels. The goal was to find a faster way to spot kidney problems than current blood and urine tests. However, the study was withdrawn before any children were enrolled.
