New hope for young kidneys: extended safety trial for pediatric kidney disease treatment

Summary

This study aims to learn about the long-term safety of a medication called finerenone when given to children and young adults (ages 1-18) who have chronic kidney disease and proteinuria. Participants will take finerenone along with their standard kidney medication for up to 18 months. Researchers will monitor for side effects, check blood pressure and potassium levels, and see if the treatment helps reduce protein in the urine and protect kidney function over time.
