Balloon procedure tested for Tough-to-Treat high blood pressure

NCT ID NCT02770066

Summary

This study is creating a national Danish registry to track the long-term results of a procedure called percutaneous transluminal renal angioplasty (PTRA). The procedure uses a small balloon to open up narrowed arteries leading to the kidneys, which can cause severe, hard-to-control high blood pressure. Researchers will follow 160 high-risk patients for up to 5 years to see if the procedure helps lower blood pressure, improves kidney function, and reduces serious health risks like heart attack or stroke.
