Could a common Anti-Inflammatory replace opioids after hip surgery?
NCT ID NCT07037888
First seen Jun 30, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether ketorolac, a non-opioid anti-inflammatory drug, can control pain after hip arthroscopy as well as or better than standard opioid medications. About 100 adults with femoroacetabular impingement undergoing hip arthroscopy will be randomly assigned to receive either ketorolac plus standard care or standard care alone. Researchers will measure pain levels and opioid use over the first few days after surgery, with follow-up up to 3 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ketorolac
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a safer, non-opioid option for managing pain after hip arthroscopy, reducing addiction risk and side effects.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center Phase 4 trial, so results may not apply broadly. Ketorolac may not control pain as effectively as opioids for some patients.
