Could a simple pain shot improve IVF recovery without hurting success?

NCT ID NCT07185724

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether giving the painkiller ketorolac after egg retrieval can safely reduce pain without lowering the chance of pregnancy in fresh embryo transfers. About 200 IVF patients will be randomly assigned to receive either ketorolac or no ketorolac after their egg retrieval. The researchers will compare implantation rates, pain levels, and live birth rates between the two groups.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Ketorolac (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug given by IV)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that ketorolac is a safe and effective painkiller for women having fresh embryo transfers after egg retrieval.
What could go wrong
This is a single, mid-sized trial. Earlier studies were mixed, and there is still a theoretical risk that ketorolac could affect implantation or increase bleeding.
