Ketone infusion tested as potential heart helper for diabetics
NCT ID NCT03560323
Summary
This study aimed to understand if raising ketone levels in the blood could improve how the heart pumps in people with both type 2 diabetes and heart failure. Researchers gave 41 participants infusions of ketones at different levels and used heart scans (MRI and PET) to measure changes in heart function and energy use. The goal was to gather basic knowledge about how ketones affect the heart, which might explain the benefits seen with certain diabetes drugs.
