Summary
This study looks at how ketone bodies—chemicals your liver makes when you fast or exercise—affect how your body uses energy and responds to insulin. Ten overweight adults aged 55–70 will each try four different treatments (including a ketone drink and a placebo) on separate days. Researchers will use advanced scans and small tissue samples to measure changes in fat breakdown, sugar uptake, and energy use. The goal is to understand whether ketone supplements could someday help improve insulin sensitivity, which is important for conditions like prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.
