Could a ketamine rinse slash post-surgery painkiller use?

NCT ID NCT07370181

First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether rinsing the surgical area with a mix of ketamine and a standard numbing medicine (bupivacaine) can better control pain after gallbladder removal than the numbing medicine alone. Sixty adults having laparoscopic gallbladder surgery will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two rinses. The goal is to see if the ketamine rinse reduces the need for extra pain relievers and lowers pain scores in the first 24 hours after surgery.
