New study: could a simple ketamine wash ease pain after gallbladder surgery?

NCT ID NCT07370181

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding ketamine to a standard painkiller (bupivacaine) and rinsing the surgical area during gallbladder removal can better control pain after surgery. Sixty adults having laparoscopic gallbladder removal will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard painkiller alone or with ketamine. The goal is to see if the ketamine group needs less rescue pain medication and reports lower pain scores in the first 24 hours after surgery.
