Ketamine shows promise for stubborn bipolar depression in new trial

NCT ID NCT05004896

Summary

This study tested whether repeated low-dose ketamine infusions could help people with treatment-resistant bipolar depression. 71 participants who hadn't responded to standard medications received either ketamine or a sedative placebo over two weeks. Researchers measured changes in depression, suicidal thoughts, and quality of life to see if ketamine was safe and effective for this condition.
