New study tests Same-Day treatment for Cone-Shaped corneas
NCT ID NCT07629557
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether it is safe and possible to perform corneal cross-linking on both eyes on the same day in people with keratoconus, a condition where the cornea thins and bulges. Fifteen participants will receive riboflavin eye drops and UV-A light treatment in both eyes at one visit. The goal is to see if the procedure can be completed successfully without major issues.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Riboflavin eye drops and UV-A light
What this could lead to
If successful, this could allow people with keratoconus to have both eyes treated on the same day, making the procedure more convenient.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early feasibility study with only 15 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The procedure also carries risks like infection or corneal scarring.
