NCT ID NCT07094685
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase II trial is testing whether the drug ivonescimab, given before surgery, can shrink tumors in people with stage II-IV head and neck cancer that can be removed. Ivonescimab is a type of antibody that helps the immune system fight cancer. The study will enroll 28 adults whose tumors have a specific marker (PD-L1 CPS ≥ 1). The main goal is to see how many patients have a major reduction in tumor cells after treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Ivonescimab (a bispecific antibody that helps the immune system attack cancer cells)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could lead to a new treatment option that shrinks head and neck tumors before surgery, potentially improving long-term outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is an early phase II trial with only 28 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug may cause side effects or fail to shrink tumors as hoped.
