New drug may calm racing hearts in sepsis patients

Summary

This study tests a drug called ivabradine to see if it can safely lower heart rate and improve blood flow in people with sepsis, a life-threatening infection. About 172 adults in intensive care will receive either ivabradine or a placebo. The goal is to find out if controlling heart rate this way can help patients recover better.
