Can a common painkiller stop Post-Surgery confusion in seniors?

NCT ID NCT04093219

Summary

This study aims to prevent a common and serious complication called delirium, or sudden severe confusion, in older adults after major heart surgery. Researchers are testing if giving regular, scheduled doses of intravenous acetaminophen (the medicine in Tylenol) after surgery can reduce how often this confusion happens. The trial involves 900 patients aged 60 and older and will also track their pain levels, medication use, and long-term recovery.
