First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether intravenous magnesium sulfate can quickly reduce severe period pain in women visiting the emergency room. Sixty women with acute dysmenorrhea will receive either magnesium or a standard painkiller (dexketoprofen). Pain levels are measured before and one hour after treatment to compare effectiveness.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new, fast-acting option for severe period pain in the emergency room.
What could go wrong
