New dialysis method aims to trap toxic iron in critically ill patients

NCT ID NCT07236463

Summary

This study is testing if adding a drug called MEX-CD1 to dialysis fluid can safely remove excess iron from the blood of ICU patients with severe kidney failure caused by sepsis. Fourteen participants will receive two 24-hour dialysis sessions—one standard and one with the added drug—to compare how much iron is removed. The goal is to see if reducing iron levels might help protect organs and improve recovery in these critically ill patients.
