IV iron shot after heart surgery aims to boost recovery and fight lasting anemia

NCT ID NCT07238972

Summary

This study is testing if giving an intravenous (IV) iron infusion right after heart surgery helps prevent long-term anemia and improves recovery. It will involve 180 adults who have low iron or anemia before surgery and low blood counts after surgery. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the IV iron treatment or a placebo (saltwater) infusion to see which group has better long-term outcomes.
