New oral ultrasound could spare patients from painful biopsies
NCT ID NCT06336941
First seen Mar 03, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study is testing a new, high-frequency ultrasound that goes inside the mouth to look at oral cancer. The goal is to see how deep the cancer goes without needing a surgical biopsy. About 400 people with oral squamous cell carcinoma will get this painless scan before their planned surgery. If it works well, it could become a routine tool to help doctors diagnose and plan treatment more easily.
