New skin substitute vs. traditional flap surgery for leg wounds

NCT ID NCT00906672

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026

Summary

This study compared two surgical techniques for covering skin loss on the lower leg: a newer method using Integra® (a dermal substitute) and the standard flap surgery. Researchers looked at complications, scar quality, and recovery time in 72 patients. The goal was to see if Integra® could reduce the need for repeat surgeries and improve outcomes.
