Experimental injection aims to boost Chemo's punch in aggressive breast cancer
NCT ID NCT06358573
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests whether injecting the experimental drug INT230-6 directly into the tumor before standard chemotherapy and immunotherapy can improve outcomes for people with early triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). About 61 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the injection plus standard treatment or standard treatment alone. The main goal is to see if the combination leads to a higher rate of complete cancer disappearance at the time of surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- INT230-6 (a combination of cisplatin, vinblastine, and a cell-penetrating molecule injected into the tumor)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this approach could increase the chance of eliminating all cancer before surgery, potentially improving long-term outcomes for people with triple-negative breast cancer.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase trial (61 participants) testing an experimental drug with no marketing approval. The added benefit over standard care is unproven, and side effects from the drug combination are possible.
