Summary
This early-phase trial tested a special insulin gel applied directly to the ear drum after surgery to repair a long-standing hole. Fifty adults with dry ear drum perforations received either the insulin gel or a plain foam control. The insulin group showed significantly better healing at follow-ups up to two months. While promising, the study is small and early, so more research is needed.
