Can a little puff of CBD make you feel good? new study aims to find out
NCT ID NCT05320367
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will give 80 healthy adults who use cannabis occasionally different low doses of inhaled CBD (5 to 100 mg) or a placebo to see if they feel a pleasant effect. Each person will try all doses in a random order, and researchers will also explore if current tools miss any subtle effects. The goal is purely to learn about CBD's effects, not to treat any condition.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
cannabidiol (CBD)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could help understand whether low-dose inhaled CBD has any noticeable pleasant effects, which may inform future research on CBD's potential uses.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small study in healthy volunteers, not patients. It only looks at subjective feelings, not any medical benefit, and may find no difference from placebo.
