First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether adding an inhaled antibiotic (amikacin) to standard treatment helps ICU patients recover faster from ventilator-associated pneumonia. Researchers tracked how quickly the infection cleared, how long patients needed the ventilator, and any side effects. The trial included 90 adults aged 18-80 who were on ventilators and diagnosed with VAP.
