Baby's first flu: study tracks immune memory from day one

NCT ID NCT05436184

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study follows 1,500 healthy infants from birth to age 4 to understand how their first encounter with the flu—either through vaccination or natural infection—affects their immune system's response to later flu exposures. Pregnant mothers are enrolled before delivery, and their babies are monitored over time. The goal is to learn how early flu experiences shape long-term immunity, which could help design better flu vaccines for children.
