Better ankle implant aims to last longer and reduce pain

NCT ID NCT06941558

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study follows 200 people who received a new type of ankle replacement designed to attach better to bone and wear out more slowly. Researchers will track pain, function, and how long the implant lasts over time. The goal is to see if this improved device helps people with severe ankle arthritis move better and have less pain.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

INFINITY™ with ADAPTIS™ and EVERLAST™ ankle replacement system (a medical device)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could confirm that the new ankle implant lasts longer and works better than older versions, improving mobility and reducing pain for people with severe ankle arthritis.

What could go wrong

This is an observational follow-up study, not a randomized trial, so results may be less definitive. The implant could still wear out or require revision surgery in some patients.
