Overnight pill may sharpen diagnosis of Hormone-Driven hypertension

NCT ID NCT06740838

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether taking one dose of dexamethasone at bedtime can make screening for primary aldosteronism more accurate in people already taking blood pressure medications. Primary aldosteronism is a condition where the adrenal gland makes too much aldosterone, causing high blood pressure that needs different treatment. About 240 adults aged 40-75 with high blood pressure and an adrenal nodule will take the dexamethasone test up to three times and collect urine samples to compare hormone levels.
