Common surgery drugs may influence breast cancer return
NCT ID NCT07624734
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study examines whether medications given during mastectomy to keep blood pressure stable might affect the risk of breast cancer coming back. Researchers will review the records of 250 patients who had mastectomy over five years. They will look at which drugs were used and track cancer recurrence within five years after surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
adrenergic agents (ephedrine, phenylephrine, norepinephrine, clonidine)
What this could lead to
If this study finds a link, it could point toward safer anesthesia choices during breast cancer surgery to possibly reduce recurrence risk.
What could go wrong
This is a small, retrospective study that only looks back at medical records, so it cannot prove cause and effect. The results may not apply to all patients.
