Summary
This research project aims to understand why older adults get more infections and why those infections can be more serious. By following 23,000 people aged 60 and older, scientists will collect health data and samples like blood and stool to study how the immune system changes with age. The goal is to find early warning signs and risk factors for infections, which could lead to better prevention and care strategies. This study does not test any new treatments or medications.
