New brain imaging tool could unlock secrets of depression and Alzheimer's

NCT ID NCT06874205

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study tests a new radioactive tracer called 11C-JMJ-129 to see how well it can image a protein called PDE4D in the brain and body of healthy volunteers. PDE4D is linked to thinking and mood, and may play a role in disorders like Alzheimer's and depression. Researchers will also test if a medication called disulfiram can improve the quality of the brain images by preventing the tracer from breaking down too quickly. About 40 healthy adults aged 18 and older will take part.
